In response to a disturbing string of teenage suicides last year, Stranger editorial director Dan Savage made a video with his “husband-in-Canada/boyfriend-in-America” Terry Miller. They wanted LGBTQ teens to know that while bullying can be soul-crushing, life does get better. The video went viral, with people contributing more than 10,000 videos of their own stories. Tonight, Savage and Miller debut their new book, It Gets Better, in which famous people (David Sedaris! Barack Obama!) as well as regular people share stories about cruelty, about being young in a world that shuns you, and about how good it finally feels to learn that you are not alone.
