We’ve enumerated the joys of the original Thai Curry Simple in the International District, where the curries are made of freshly mashed spices, where the food is so affordable you’ll never spend a penny anywhere else again, and where the owners, Picha and Mark, are so damn adorable you’ll want to marry them both. Well? They’ve opened a lunch shack on Capitol Hill. The former coffee stand at 12th Avenue and East Madison Street is now a hut of to-go awesomeness. Pro tip: the red curry with bamboo shoots and eggplant. (Thai Curry Simple, 1122 E Madison St, 325-1494, 11 amโ€“3 pm)

  1. My favorite thing about telecommuting is getting lunch here.

They have run out of food by ~1pm on two occasions ๐Ÿ™

They really need to be open until like 7 or 8 too. I’d walk over for dinner at least once a week.

  2. I know I’m swimming against the current here, but both of the curry dishes I’ve had at the I.D. store just didn’t taste that good to me.

I really want to like this place. The price is definitely right. The portions are large. The owners seem nice. Just hasn’t cut it for me. Maybe next time.
