MSNBC says this is what President Obama told 60 Minutes:
“The risks of release outweigh the benefits,” he said. “Conspiracy theorists around the world will just claim the photos are doctored anyway, and there is a real risk that releasing the photos will only serve to inflame public opinion in the Middle East.”
It’s a smart decision—I especially appreciate that the president is preemptively dismissive of the conspiracy theorists—but I kind of expect those images to be leaked no matter what. If they stay under wraps, that’ll be a testament to the security of the Obama White House.
Show them to Boehner or McCain and let them make a statement about it.
I saw one on Twitter on Sunday night that was supposedly his body.
On the other hand, it’s more likely they want to keep everyone distracted by pointless bullshit such as this and the birth certificate instead of forming lynchmobs against the corporate criminals and war whores bankrupting and poisoning the planet.
This may not stand up to a FOIA request, as too many agencies were involved; not all of them can claim “classified” to prevent release.

Our first photoshop attempt didn’t go over too well, and I guess that idea that we were withholding the photos so as to avoid inflaming Muslim sentiment was lame. I mean, we did dump the body in the ocean, and we’re bombing the crap out of all those Muslim nations to steal their oil. So, let’s just use that old standby ‘national security’ as the excuse this time.

Such acts of courage and patriotism, which can sometimes save lives and often save taxpayer dollars, should be encouraged rather than stifled. We need to empower federal employees as watchdogs of wrongdoing and partners in performance.
Obama, the President, has gone on to prosecute more whistleblowers in the last two years than in the last four decades. That’s a testament to the two-faced authoritarianism of the Obama White House.
