“Thanks for a nation of finks” – William S Burroughs
Wow. I always thought the pizza ordering/delivery transaction was much more in line with this process: http://www.theonion.com/articles/everyon…
@1 – Ha! That’s exactly the quote I thought of. Well played, sir.
No more Papa Johns pizza, ever.
Why the hell would you do that? My best tip ever when I was delivering pizza was from a stoner who didn’t seem to realize how much cash he was handing me.
You see, shit like this is why we need automated pizza machines.
They don’t judge. They don’t question. And they certainly don’t call the fucking police.
I would THINK Papa Johns would want to protect, you know, it’s entire consumer base…
Fast food pizza delivery places all pretty much suck, but Papa Johns is hands down the worst of the worst. I’d rather eat little caesars than papa johns. Revolting.
Personally, I don’t fault the delivery guy. No doubt someone who isn’t very familiar with pot use, and was concerned the person didn’t have the faculties to look after their kid. Nine years old is old enough he needn’t worry, IMO, but his heart was presumably in the right place. At least this guy had a doctor’s permission, so it didn’t turn out worse.
another ignorant asshole. would he have called the cops if the guy was holding a beer? it might not be illegal, but that kid is in a lot more danger from a drinking parent than a pot smoking parent.
@9 being ignorant isn’t a viable excuse for potentially ruining someone’s life. that delivery man is an asshole. i wish his name was published so that stoners could get the word out not to tip that fuckwad.
I’m more with 9. And I’m on the fence as whether the MM user should a) be more discreet, or b) be more visible so that the ignorant can be educated. I think I’m leaning toward b).
@9 @10 I can see the ‘his heart was in the right place’ thing, but I think that it’s pretty clear that alcohol is the greater evil, and the pizza guy probably wouldn’t have called the cops over a beer!
@9: Calling the cops on this dad could easily have resulted in a situation that would have thoroughly traumatized that kid. Not only is the delivery guy ignorant about pot, he’s ignorant about kids. He’s an asshole.
What’s next, are they going to have THC test kits at the 7-11? This guy was probably a holy roller, because NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DO THEY MENTION POT.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_a…
if the pizza delivery guys are going to call the cops on people smoking pot then the pizza delivery guys are going to be out of jobs real quick. you call the cops when some guy is beating the shit out of his kid or wife. you mind your own business when you smell pot. and i agree with the statement that any dad drinking alcohol is way more dangerous to his kid than someone smoking pot.
What 10 said. Also 16. If the pizza guy’s got time to spend monitoring everybody else’s behavior, he needs to take up a hobby. Since he doesn’t have the brains to understand that pot’s nowhere near as much a danger around kids as booze, perhaps he should start to brush up on his nose-picking talents — that doesn’t take a lot of smarts.
They shoulda charged the delivery guy with 1st Degree Nosy-Parkerism.
Seriously.
The guy was got his prescription because of knee pain he suffered from a bicycle accident. But the story doesn’t say if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The In-The-Bowl guy never comments on my weed smells, except that one time he said “Ohh, you having party?”
Whoever Papa John’s pizza rivals are in that neighborhood should really put out a stoner friendly ad, ASAFP.
First, I am pro-legalize pot. Just want to get that out there, because NOWHERE in the story does it say he called the cops cause he could “smell pot.” You could just as easily assume he called the cops because the man was acting in a manner that seemed dangerous around a 9-year-old.
Like I would not call the cops if he had a beer in his hand and there was a kid in the house, but I might if he was obviously drunk and had a kid in the house. In the absence of any more information….why is everyone assuming he was being a dick? Okay maybe he was….I have no idea – but neither do you!
I know a pizza place that’s going to lose at least half its business in 3, 2, 1…
That is very cool, actually. All this “snitching isn’t cool” bullshit has to end if we are going to see our streets continue to be safe.
Yeah, what the fuck? Who other than people who are too stoned to leave the house do they think are willing to pay the delivery surcharge and tip for delivery pizza? I thought there was an unwritten code for food-delivery personnel, sorta like with computer consultants and porn/pirated software/pirated media.
My hippie parents smoked a lot of pot. I never minded, because once they were high it was so easy for me to get ’em to buy the kind of junk food that wasn’t allowed in the house otherwise. The kid was in no danger, and certainly FAR safer than if they were in the care of adults who were drinking. As a side note, having parents that smoked weed meant that I never did as a teenager, because pot was OBVIOUSLY uncool if my parents used it!
@24: if are streets are, as you say, already safe, then why would we need to start snitchin?
note: he had a PRESCRIPTION.
Agreed, although those stoners don’t tip worth shit. Payback is a bitch.
@27 It’s not snitching, it’s called being a concerned citizen, it keeps order whether you like it or not, and allows the police force to diminish without an impact, but most importantly, it’s the right thing to do. Other people don’t know who has a prescription and who doesn’t, that’s the law’s job, our job is to watch out for out neighborhoods.
I’m certainly glad I live nowhere near KittenKoder. Him and I would be in each others face, every time he butted his nosy ass into my affairs.
Whenever you see the word “concerns” as in “they have concerns about” what that really means is they’re nosy, petty, insignificant asshats out to use their mighty skills of perception and alarm on others. Its code. Try it. Dumb city councilman has concerns about bike riders in traffic. Moms organization has concerns that legalizing private liquor sales will unleash teen drunkenness. People that have no life sit around and think up concerns about stuff they know little about, but are willing to stick their nose in and meddle with.
@29: ” it’s called being a concerned citizen, it keeps order whether you like it or not”
Yeah, like prohibition of all sorts “keeps order”.
It’s called “KittenKoder is a mindless, exceptionless authoritarian”.
@32 Let me guess, you were one of the people that walked by while they burnt a homeless guy.
