For too many filmgoers, film noir is represented only by genre-transcending classics like Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard. Eddie Mullerโs annual Noir City fest is dedicated to righting that wrong via a weeklong cavalcade of great deep-genre noir. Tonightโs double feature includes two unavailable-on-DVD delights from 1932: Tay Garnettโs Okay America, a pre-code exposรฉ of the greasy relationship between politics, the media, and the mob, and Edward L. Cahnโs police-corruption thriller Afraid to Talk. (SIFF Cinema at the Uptown, 511 Queen Anne Ave N, www.siff.net, Okay America 7 pm, Afraid to Talk 9:30 pm, $12 for both)
