The first openly gay mayor ever elected in Mexico is scheduled to take office in the rough, violence-plagued state of Zacatecas in September.

2. According to a new Quinnipiac poll, 50 percent of Virginians favor same-sex marriage. Only 43 percent don’t. Considering the speed at which pro-gay-marriage numbers have tended to move, I don’t think it’ll be that long before we see a serious debate about same-sex marriage in Virginia.
