Mixify officially launched Clubcast just last week… While events like Ultra and Coachella have been streamed to video channels like Youtube, Clubcast is taking an alternate approach with on-site immersion. The video DJ experience seems like it would feel a bit detached for clubbers, but testing has confirmed that fans are quick to accept the idea.
Uh… I guess, with Clubcast DJs, can now simply phone Sykpe™ it in? This sounds LAME for everyone! I’ve been playing out, as a selector, for a while now and I’ve learned to kinda work the crowd. Like, I have way more fun when there’s good energy and I can get sweaty and stupid WITH the dancers. You know, some REAL on-site immersion!! Of course, I’m playing records and not mixing so I can get on the dance floor, but I can’t imagine playing remotely without ANY physical connection to the crowd. It’d feel like I was practicing. YUCK. Too, I thought the point of a live appearance is that someone APPEARS… live!?! But this, not much different than a soundtrack to a live TV show played real loud, is what the kids would be paying for, right? Are the kids so “whatever” they think it’s okay to pay a promotor to stream some yob’s beatz-and-bleepz on a TV? Would anyone pay to see a live band Skyped in? This Clubcast biz seems ridiculous; just ’cause you can, don’t mean you ‘oughta.
