That’s not the magazine’s description, that’s the musician’s description of how he thinks some straight people see him. God, I love Perfume Genius; it’s exciting to see him getting some love in the New Yorker. We’ve been giving him love in The Stranger for years. Eric Grandy wrote about him back in 2010, David Schmader called the new video “Queen” its own work of art a couple months ago, and Emily Nokes wrote about Perfume Genius two weeks ago, specifically a show she saw while sitting on a swing set in Poland.
