Our arts critics have already recommended 29 awesome things to do this week, but there are lots more events happening. To save some of the out-of-the-box ones from slipping through the cracks, we’ve got the highlights here—like a New Year’s comedy show featuring Hal Sparks (Dude, Where’s My Car?), a GameWorks Omegathon, and a band called Freudian Slurp.

TUESDAY
1. 21st Century Science Fiction Book Club
This group meets the fourth Tuesday of every month to discuss authors of contemporary science fiction. December’s conversation will tackle Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes.

2. Living Voices: Klondike: The Last Adventure
Living Voices and the National Park Service present this live theatre performance about a young woman who was swept up in the Klondike Gold Rush.

3. Needles 201
From needle bondage to face needles, this Center for Sex Positive Culture class is sure to make everyone feel uncomfortable and potentially even aroused.

WEDNESDAY
4. You Get a Spoon!
Chris Duffy hosts You Get A Spoon, a variety show/audience prize giveaway. After enjoying the comedy, take home your prize: things like candy bars, books, magazine subscriptions, kitchen appliances, nose flutes, gaff tape, and of course, the cherished Tovolo mixing spoon.

5. Freudian Slurp
Dave Segal says: “Freudian Slurp sometimes sound like skewed dinner-time jazz, sometimes like something the slick jazz label CTI might’ve released in 1977, and never like Steely Dan.”

THURSDAY
6. Fabulous Downey Brothers
Witness the bizarre art-rock spectacle of the Fabulous Downey Brothers, along the “clever, satirical hiphop gymnastics” of Passion Party.

7. The Room in 3-D
See Tommy Wiseau’s ass like you’ve never seen it before: coming straight at you.

8. The Greg Wilson New Year’s Eve
What they say: “For New Years Eve, DO NOT SIT IN THE FRONT ROW! Unless you want to have the time of your life! For New Years Eve, we have The Greg Wilson. This is is more than a comedy show, this is an EXPERIENCE. His anything-goes approach creates one-of-a-kind performances where the audience might wind up most of the night’s material!”

9. NYE Comedy Classic with Hal Sparks
Ring in the new year with Hal Sparks (from Dude, Where’s My Car? and Queer As Folk) and “very special guest” Sarah Tiana in the Ultralounge Nightclub.

10. Moulin Rouge! New Year’s Eve Sing Along
Ring in the New Year dramatically and musically; maybe even take the opportunity to dress up.

FRIDAY
11. GameWorks Omegathon
Start the new year with some friendly competition at Gameworks, from Frogger to Super Smash Bros.

SATURDAY
12. 48-Hour Theater Festival
This is a higher-intensity event than what you’d expect from a 48-hour play festival, because they do it TWICE.

SUNDAY
13. Memento Mori
Professor Vanderbeck presents this “hour-long surreal journey exploring the themes of madness and immortality, while surrounded by the unearthly artifacts found in Spooked in Seattle’s famous Death Museum.”

14. Backstreet Bazaar
On the first Sunday of every month, Hillman City Collaboratory throws a little street festival, featuring live music, food, and local artists. HCC is an energetic new place worth visiting.
