Former U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan, the first woman to be elected mayor of Seattle in nearly a century, will be sworn into office today. She will be Seattle’s fourth mayor this year, first woman mayor in nearly a century and the first lesbian mayor in the city’s history. King County officials are scheduled to certify results from this month’s election at 3 p.m, marking the end of interim mayor Tim Burgess’ two-month term.

Rather than taking the Oath of Office at City Hall, as per tradition, Durkan’s team has scheduled a series of ceremonies across the city. Here they are:

3:00 pm Ethiopian Community Center located at 8323 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118 (OFFICIAL SWEARING IN)

4:15 pm Youngstown Cultural Arts Center located at 4408 Delridge Way SW, Seattle, WA 98106

5:45 pm Wing Luke Museum located at 719 S King St, Seattle, WA 98104

7:00 pm Phinney Neighborhood Association located at 6532 Phinney Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103

8:00 pm Elliott Bay Public House and Brewery located at 12537 Lake City Way NE, Seattle, WA 98125

The first three events will be streamed on Seattle Channel, a spokesperson said.
