Hate to break it to ya, but there’s officially only four weekends left in summer. Take advantage of our dwindling sunny days at cheap and cheerful events from Festival Sundiata’s Black Arts Fest to Hai! Japantown and from SOUK Seattle to the 16th Annual Off The Wall + 13th & Fir Mural Reveal Party. For more ideas, check out top picks of the week.

FRIDAY

LIVE MUSIC

Bupp! // Treefold
You never quite know what you’re going to get from local experimental band Bupp!, but that’s part of the fun. They tried their first-ever puppet show at Baba Yaga last month and popped up at the Seattle Art Museum a few weeks ago for a performance combining original music and interactive games. This Friday, Bupp! plans to set the poems and short stories of local writer Auzin Ahmadi to music at bean-to-bar chocolate shop and venue Cocoa Legato. Treefold opens the show with a set of chordless jazz, which means the trio doesn’t include any standard harmony instruments but instead explores textures and rhythms on sax, bass, and drums. This isn’t one to miss if you’re in the mood for something out of the ordinary. SHANNON LUBETICH
