ICE detained a man—breaking his car window in the process—across the street from KapKa Cooperative Elementary School near Woodland Park yesterday. In photos, ICE agents appear to be masked, and at least one of their vehicles appears to have no license plate. Hey Gov. Bob Ferguson, remember when you made it illegal for ICE to wear masks? Sure would be great to see you DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT. Mayor Katie Wilson? The Seattle Police Department? Anyone?

Even the laws Washington has in place to protect against Trump’s goons getting vehicle and license data can be circumvented, as reporter Cedar Attanasio reported yesterday. What good are all these protections if you don’t actually enforce them? Was it all performative bullshit?

Police arrested a 19-year-old in Illinois for allegedly planning to shoot up a Hindu temple. Al Jazeera reports, “Detectives searched [the teen’s] home and recovered a rifle, multiple loaded rifle magazines and hundreds of additional rounds of rifle ammunition.” Police found  “a tactical vest containing body armor and a patch displaying imagery associated with white supremacist extremism” among the recovered items.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky is done with Trump’s bullshit. In an interview with The Financial Times, Zelensky said he’s no longer going to respect Trump’s demand that Ukraine stop striking Russian oil refineries. He also questioned Trump’s relationship with Putin, and called Trump and America out for withholding information, including about the Russian ballistic missile launches that happened earlier this week, which Ukraine did not receive advance notice about.

Well, that didn’t take long. People are already turning Meta’s recently launched AI assistant, Muse, into a cybersex bot.

That did take long: Nearly 300 days into her tenure as mayor, Katie Wilson finally sat down with the press. The Stranger’s Cedar Attanasio was there to find out what took so long.

Thank you, Stranger Photo Director Billie Winter, for alerting me to the most entertaining Instagram comment thread of the year:

Breaking news: Trump hates women. The New York Times breaks down all the women who have left or been fired by the Trump Administration this year, a list that includes Kimberly Guilfoyle, Attorney General Pam Bondi, labor secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence.” Three of them were replaced by men (Guilfoyle, who resigned as ambassador to Greece yesterday, hasn’t been replaced yet). Press secretary Karoline Leavitt also left and was replaced by Katie Zacharia, a woman and also a disaster.

😬 Katie Zacharia's first press briefing was brutally bad 😬Trump managed to find a press secretary who can barely read, but she does have the number one qualification — looking like IvankaHere's a supercut from Zacharia's first briefing, which made Karoline Leavitt seem like Ronald Reagan

The Pentagon won’t livestream state-sanctioned murder after all. Last week, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced (while hiding a full-on erection, probably) that the US will livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan. Hasan was sentenced to death for killing 13 people and injuring 32 at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas in 2009. Yesterday, Trump canceled Hegseth’s plans, saying on Truth Social, “many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device. He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed.” Hegseth will still likely watch, though. Psycho.

Hegseth’s in hot water for all his statements about banning trans people from the military. And all the slurs he used. Protesters also interrupted a recent panel during the Association of the US Army’s annual meeting and called him a coward, Nazi, and war criminal.

The Washington Post uncovered more White House ballroom donors, and wouldn’t you know it, TRUMP’S NAME ISN’T ON THE LIST. Last year he said, “It’s being paid for a hundred percent by me and some friends of mine.” He lied? Gasp! Who is on the list? Oh, just someone he pardoned, a person whose investigation was called off shortly before writing a $12.5 million check, and a bunch of other shady dealings that sure do make it look like people bought their way out of trouble!

Ballots have been mailed! According to King County Elections, you should receive your ballot by October 19. If you don’t, give ‘em a call to find out what’s up. Here are our 2026 General Election endorsements for the whole frickin’ county!

On Saturday, Seattle Indivisible has organized a No Kings march and voting fair. It starts at Westlake Center at 2 p.m. From there, people will head to the Seattle Center for “tables, information, music and puppets!”

Tables!?!? I can’t know how to hear anymore about tables!
