Billy Vacation isn’t a member of the Center—nor am I, for that matter—and he isn’t interested in meeting with Ginter. He doesn’t trust Ginter not to misrepresent him or twist his words the same way she twisted those of author Brian Alexander. (Alexander was interviewed at KOMO a year ago when his book, America Unzipped, was published. In that original interview, Alexander spoke favorably of his visit to the Center, and backed its education mission. Ginter removed Alexander’s words from their original context, tossed in some ominous sound cues, and made Alexander look like he was crusading against the Center. Alexander wrote to Ginter demanding an apology. Ginter hasn’t responded to Alexander.) If anyone else has written to Ginter and received a response, please forward your exchange to me.

Finally, I don’t have any proof that Marlee Ginter [a damn fine journalist]. But she might be [a damn fine journalist], just as Dan Lewis’s hard-earned money “might be going” to the Center for Sex Positive Culture. Anything that might or could be happening, according to KOMO, even things that seem unlikely to be happening (Marlee Ginter [being a damn fine journalist]) or are actually not happening (the Center for Sex Positive Culture taking your tax dollars, Marlee Ginter and KOMO issuing a correction and apologizing for this piece), are “facts” fit for broadcast. So… is Marlee Ginter [a damn fine journalist]? She might be. She could be. So let’s just say that she is—why the hell not?

  8. It is interesting that Ms. Gitner has not denied the reports. If it is not true, why does she refuse to say so? Just what is her history with animals? What is she trying to hide by avoiding these simple questions? Does she still perform sexual acts on animals? If she no, when did she stop and why? As Colbert might ask, “goat ejaculate – spit or swallow?”

  10. The slog and everyone who has posted to it has made an excellent point that only someone in the news business would figure out: the story has people WATCHING and TALKING days later. KOMO wins! Ginter may or may not like goats – I can’t say with certainty – but this week she was the sheep dog herding you all in the direction SHE wanted you to go. Enjoy.

  15. Using the word “might” will not save Dan. It is obvious that this is a malicious attack, not satire. He wants to cause her harm. He wants her to lose her job. He wants her to be harassed. He wants her family to suffer because of his harassment. Anyone who reads this site can tell that this is not satire. If it were satire he would have stopped when people began to threaten her and her family. Instead it only geared him up to do more harm.

    To claim that is is simply an adolescent frat-boy wannabe giggle fest would be inaccurate. This is Dan Savage’s malicious attempt to cause harm to someone. Was he named in the story? Was he directly provoked? Has this reporter maliciously tried to ruin his reputation because of his writings? I hope she hires a lawyer, this will be an easy victory.

    I would indeed like to see Ms. Ginter lose her job. Not because anyone is likely to believe that she fellates goats (or performs additional related sex acts on them, or any other farm animal).

    She should be fired because she is entirely blind to the very real distinction between pumping up interest in a story by using “teaser” tactics…and misleading the public by misquoting sources and misrepresenting (or just plain making up) allegations of illegal and unethical behavior.

    This isn’t a giggle-fest. It’s a dead-serious act of journalistic mimicry, turning Ms. Ginter’s illogical arguments and unethical reportage back at her. If she wants to do an expose–on sex-positive groups, or the Accountants of America–she actually needs to come up with some credible facts BEFORE she goes on the air.

While I may not agree with all the hype and sensationalism of today’s media, you guys blasting her by name calling isn’t exactly very respectable or even mature example of an alternative. As far as I am concerned, this publication’s title is appropriate.

  25. The sex driven culture of our country has washed your brains so thoroughly that you missed the point of Ms. Ginter’s report. Her report was targeting the fact that Center for Sex Positive Culture is a private club, which generates $300,000 annually and only claims a $12,000 profit, is tax exempt. Why should this “brothel in disguise” not be investigated Mr. Savage?
