This restaurant is so far away from my house that it might as
well be in the actual Shanghai. But I would happily travel to the
actual Shanghai just for Chiang’s Gourmet’s homemade pan-fried noodles.
I would travel to Shanghai on the back of a bad-tempered donkey.
These noodles are my favorite food. They are chewy and salty and
amazing. Get them with chicken. (Chiang’s Gourmet, 7845 Lake
City Way NE, 527-8888. 11:30 am–9:30 pm.)

Actually, it’s just down the street. (Do you assume all your readers live within 2 blocks of your dwelling?)
Did you miss the “from my house”? There’s no assumption, except that the noodles will be awesome.
I’ve never had anything less than awesome at Chiang’s. Try the popcorn-chicken recipe… it’s super spicy, eat it fast and blow your mind!
I read only what’s in bold face. 🙂

Lindy West has a unique voice. A six-sentence restaurant review and you know it’s her. Like a bratty but lovable kid sister. I enjoy her stuff.
#6 I’ve never gotten a bratty vibe, which (with her humor AND acuity) makes her golden .
