Zipcar just sent me an email titled “Resolve to Save Money in 2009”. Thanks, Zipcar — I have a really good idea for how to do just that!

  1. I know – it seems like Zipcar’s aiming more for the folks who drive super duper rarely, theoretically could afford the costs of owning a similar car to the ones in their fleet, or both. Aside from that scenario it’s hard to think of Zipcar as inexpensive.

Is it being responsible, following the rules, and calling to extend your reservation when you’re going to be late like you’re supposed to? I hope it is.

  3. Yeah, I’ve had great experiences with Zipcar, because I return my car on time. And if it looks like I’m late, it’s super easy to extend your reservation over the phone. Not so much sympathy here.

  4. I’m sorry it has taken you so long to realize that zipcar blows. Just think about how silly you’re going to feel once you realize how awful the bus really is.

  5. Just buy a car already! Use it sparingly. That’s what I finally did. I only drive once or twice a week(in a normal week, including weekends), but I don’t have to pay stupid flexcar, and when I want to use it to go away on weekends, or to move gear to gigs or whatever, it’s there for me. If you use flexcar enough, are you really car-free anyway? Can you really be all smug and “hmmph, I don’t HAVE a car, nyah”. What’s the difference really in owning a car, and renting one all the time. I do like the idea of sharing them when not in use, but for the amount of complaining you do about transportation you should probably own one.

  6. you really are a fucking idiot. your first post, in which you wrote it was not fair that zipcar made you abide by the RULES that you agreed to made you look like a fool. this post just proves that.

  7. I have zero pity for Erica, I would be super mad if the car I had reserved was not there due to Erica being late… I don’t think she would like it much if her car wasn’t returned for her turn on time either……. also, zipcar does give you one courtesy break on your first late fee.
