I love it when celebs take out all their aggression on those annoying paparazzi—but when Julia Roberts does it? My love knows no bounds! Pity the poor pap (not really) who crosses Pretty Woman, because she gets UGLY on this guy! (And his reaction—”Sorry… thank you… yes… you’re right… yes… sorry”—is classic!

Thanks for making my day, D Listed!

  1. Aim higher? How about you aim higher, like a job as a theater actor, independent film actor, director, producer, writer, stage tech, or any of a billion other jobs where “being photographed and videoed constantly” isn’t the first job requirement, and the result of being videoed constantly isn’t $10 million a project? Ugh.

  2. Come on, @2, I’m no fan of Julia Roberts, but you just sound jealous. Would you turn down the opportunities she’s had if you were in her shoes? Of course not!

And I don’t think too many people would feel differently than she does if some guy with a camera were following them around all day. She’s well within her rights telling him to fuck off.

  3. I love how these things are spun as meltdowns. I think any mentally healthy person would react in the same way if they were constantly being followed by cameramen. This was quite civil compared to Bjork’s reporter mauling.

  4. The issue I have with movie stars demanding that the Paparazzi stop filming and photographing them is essentially one of massive hypocrisy.

Julia Roberts et al are quite willing for us to look at her/them but ONLY if and when we pay them directly (through box office receipts) for the privilege.

The fact that they ask us to look at them whenever they WANT us to look at them and at the same time DEMAND that we not look when they don’t want us to look is pure hypocrisy.

I agree that the kids should be off limits (they didn’t ask to be born to their parents). The stars themselves know the deal as soon as they get on the treadmill and to pretend that they have any right to privacy when they frequently and routinely breach their own privacy for their own profit makes them fair game in my book.

  5. Julia Roberts et al are quite willing for us to look at her/them but ONLY if and when we pay them directly (through box office receipts) for the privilege

    Yeah its called ‘acting’ innit?

  6. @6 I don’t think the issue is with them wanting us to look at them on screen but not off screen, the issue is that we want so badly to look at them off screen. Our lives are so boring that we want to look at their boring lives. I’ve never understood why seeing Will Smith buying groceries is so amazing.

  7. But Malcolm, they’re actors. Being filmed while acting is an actor’s job. It is not “breach[ing] their own privacy for their own profit.” It is memorizing lines, rehearsing, filming, and then running around doing interviews as their contracts demand. Nowhere does a contract state that an actor must forfeit their right to all privacy. And what does that even mean? Where do you draw the line?

I think an actor should be able to draw that line for him or herself. If it were you, wouldn’t you demand that right?

  8. @6 OMG “Hypocrisy” – that is so dumb. Would you run into your doctor or dentist or hairdresser at QFC and ask them to work on you in the aisle? Duh. What do you do for a living? Just because a person’s job involves a tool and medium that can be used by anyone doesn’t give everyone the right to demand their participation.

That’s like going around with a tool bag and telling everyone you’re going to fix their car for them whether they like it or not, cuz the car is, you know, IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.

  9. This video will generate more public goodwill for Julia Roberts than all of her movies put together. Even I was scared when she started stalking toward the camera! Go Pretty Woman, heh.

  10. @6 – Your “they want you to look at them in the movies but not on the street” point does not make sense at all (as others have pointed out)… besides, I’m guessing that the reason that she was so pissed is that she was going to pick up her kids, which you rightly say should be off limits, and didn’t want the pap around when she came out of the building.

I thought you were going to go in a different direction though with your hypocrisy point… there certainly are celebrities in the Paris Hilton mode that use the paparazzi to their benefit, and then bitch about no being able to go out in public. Julia Roberts is not one of those celebrities, though.

  11. Genevieve is correct. I was never a Julia fan but this really does it for me. I thought after Princess Di there might be some common sense limitations on the Paparazzi.
The dude wasn’t just stalking a celebrity he was stalking her kids. Can we draw a line there?

  12. I agree with the points raised about Julia Roberts’ kids etc. I stated that in my original post.

I will admit to making a bit of a sweeping statement about actors in general, when it should have been more targeted at the trash who do spread all of their lives about the magazines in ‘exclusive’ interviews about their kids and their lives and then demand that we not look when they say we shouldn’t.

Yes I am talking to you Brad Pitt and Angelina ‘I never had a baby I didn’t want to exploit’ Jolie.

Julia Roberts would (as far as I can tell) be one of the more logical actors who keep work and private life strictly separated.

But the F**KNUTS who expect us to drool over them when they do a tell all spread in Hello or Vanity Fair with their kids and or partners and then demand that we respect their privacy in the next (or often the same) breath, deserve all that they get from the paparazzi.

  13. @10 I would suggest that almost all of us have been guilty of asking for advice or information out of the office from the doctor, the dentist or the local mechanic.

As for your hating Sydney; that’s fine by me all the less I have to see of you and your trollish ways.

  14. One time one of my own in-laws pulled out a video camera and started making a movie of me. It was at my wedding, if I remember right. I felt pretty violated and almost punched her. I still kind of wish I did, although she put the camera away when I yelled at her, so I suppose I would have been in the wrong.

I’m only saying I know how it is and I can relate.

  15. her anger is cause her pussy is dry and she feels and looks like shit

and, I bet that is a really tru pic of mommie dear as well

take all the pictures you want, public space, and a FREE country

(maybe she bit her lip at breakfast and it looks even more inflamed and vulgar)

    Not Minipulated by Celebrities

  16. How much money does she have to give back to have her privacy respected and to be treated like a human?

At what point of Q rating is it OK for people to be stalked?

    I’m all for anti-papparazzi laws.

  17. His reaction was the classic schmoozer who thinks he can talk his way out of anything, apologizing as he continues to do exactly what he’s supposedly apologizing for. The guy is clearly pond scum.
