Isn’t Ben’s memory wipe just a liiiiiiiiitle too convenient?
I hear the smoke monster shows up tonight. Will we find out what that damn thing is? It’s driving me nuts.
Will Hurley and Miles get stoned figure out how time travel works? And have you ever really looked at your hand, man?
Does anyone else find the whole Kate/Aaron thing to be totally boring? And can’t Kate keep track of her Claire’s damn kid.
Where the hell did Daniel Faraday go?
How come Locke can come back from the dead but can’t grow hair?
Will Sayid kill, torture or maim anyone else this week?
If God is all powerful, could he create a sandwich so big that Hurley couldn’t eat it?
Will the Jack-Kate-Sawyer-Juliette love rhombus end in a big, sexy, Lost sex party?
In all likelihood, none of these questions will be answered in tonight’s Lost Open Thread.

From the, as-always, lame imdb message board…
How did Locke know about the Temple?
Would Ben have shot Penny?
Who shot Alex?
Great Quotes from tonight?
Did anyone think Ben had Hitler hair in the flashbacks?
Ilana is a b*tch!
I don’t Like The Smoke Monster Judgement Thing
I just ate a ‘special brownie’…
Ethan was the oldest looking 27 year old I’ve ever seen.
who did sawyer punch?

In order:
Not if you consider that the island will do anything to maintain temporal consistency.
No, but I think it’s the island’s embodied deus ex machina for temporal consistency when all else fails.
Aren’t they already? And yeah, man, I have.
Yes.
Elsewhere.
Locke is alive because he’s in a time in the past when he was alive. That’s also why his legs got better when he was first on the island–he was back in time and hadn’t been injured yet. On second thought this theory doesn’t make any sense but there you go.
Now that you mention it, even by my theory he should have hair.
I hope so.
No.
As pretty as they all are I’d rather Jack and Kate just both die in an open pit.
Ben Dies.
I loved last week’s Kate episode because for once we had a character with a simple and clear motivation doing something that made sense. I love the confuse-a-cat nature of this show. But now, Kate is the character I’m rooting for the most because she’s behaving the most human. Also, Evangeline Lilly hit every scene perfectly.
The stolen series notes basically say this will end like Newhart with all but one of the major questions answered.
It’s all a dreeeeammmmmm
and what about naomi?
The dialogue between Locke and Ben was really great in this episode. I love writing like that! Even if the story is completely confusing me, keep up the witty chatter and I’ll keep coming back, thanks!
That Smoky sequence was pretty cheesy
Yeah, tv show special effects, even on big budget shows, always look like crap.
Ilana is cute.
Poor Lapidas, always stuck in the middle.
It did have some good back story though.
Yay, Des!
The hieroglyph under the temple showed the jackal-headed god, Anubis, who was the funerary god and the shepard* of the dead, into the next life.
*not the Christian Shepard, the Egyptian Shepard
Just FYI the smoke monster is the Egyptian god Apep. He’s commonly thought of as a giant black snake.
Penny killed by Ben?
Apep is working for Anubis now, and our “brotha” is going to take out Ben.
@6 I did naomi’s hair for a film once. that’s a WEAVE!
Penny wasn’t killed by Ben, he got his ass kicked by Desmond for his trouble. Most awesome moment of the episode for me.
Was that a rental car Des had? Can he even legally drive in the States?
i expected lost things from threads, but missed the fact that this is a “Lost” open thread.
journalism, punctuation, it’s not hard enough for you? suck it more!
Every time I see this headline I think, “You lost your open thread? How can you even do that?” & then I remember that slog really doesn’t generally do really open open threads, and then I read a little bit and have absolutely no clues what you’re talking about, and then I ignore it.
Hurley and Miles conversation made the episode for me. Way to acknowledge how confusing the show is and how many questions have yet to be answered. I feel like these guys speak for the audience, like that episode where the time travelers are headed somewhere in the forest and one of them says, we should head back to the beach, and Miles freaks out cause they’re always heading somewhere and we should keep moving and we should go there and we should do this… favorite characters! Excited to see the next one where the focus seems to be squarely on him finally!
I agree with all your points except one – I fucking loved the storyline with Kate/Aaron – I’m totally straight for Evangeline Lilly in a gay way. The last scene where she says “Bye, Baby” and breaks down was so goddamn heart-wrenching I thought I was going to cry.
I don’t know how I feel about the new story line with the new survivors going to find out “what’s in the shadow of the statue” – but I think Locke is completely transformed and permanently one of the Others.
In conclusion, this show is the greatest thing ever written/created ever!
Lost sucks
Ugh, I’m so over stupid Kate, and Evangeline Lily. I think she’s a terrible, one-dimensional, predictable character, and the acting is horrible. Who cares about the damn love rhombus, and the annoying kid. Episodes like last night’s are my favorite. We need more Ben, more crazy jungle Others, and more dead-but-not-dead Locke being one with the island.
1)Kate IS a pill, but last week’s Kate episode was pretty good.
2)uh, this thread is about LAST night’s episode, Dead is Dead, which was fucking AWESOME!
Zombie Locke is now a badass!
Ben is now Zombie Locke’s Bitch!
And Smoke Monster Vengeance Demon Alex broke down Ben’s ASS!
Best episode of the season…except for some really awful hair pieces, and Michael Emerson is a brilliant actor but he can’t pass for 26…
I can’t care about Kate and Jack anymore. Used to. Can’t now. The whole “Self Obsessed Sociopath” thing they each have going is only entertaining for so long.
Also: Sun & Kate: Compare and contrast for 20pts. Kate leaves Clair’s kid behind and losses her shit over it. Sun leaves her own kid behind seemingly without reaction. Yet Sun has a proven ability to “care” about other people, where Kate can’t seem to form any sort of real emotional bond with anyone other than Kate. The whole Kate gets weepy over Clair’s baby thing? I’m not buying it. (Would have bought it from Sun. But not Kate.)
So Sun was born on the island?
