Walking to work today, I thought: I wish I were unemployed.

  1. Once, a few years ago, we had one of those really nice spring days in nyc. The next day the cover of the nytimes had a picture of the great lawn in central park covered with people laying on the grass and the headline said “New York Calls in Sick”. pretty good stuff.

  2. God it must be awful to have to have a job where you have to get stoned and post stuff about buttfucking all day, I really feel for you.

  3. oh, no you don’t.

if you were out of work you’d actually be working harder than you do now to try to find another job.

the unemployed are inside today too. with far more stress.

  4. that shit is pretty cold, christopher. why not, “i wish i had the day off,” or maybe even, “i wish i worked nights?”

you don’t wish you were unemployed. your remark, (and the fact that you didn’t think better of it before posting), is a slap in the face to those who desperately wish they weren’t unemployed.

  5. @11, this isn’t the first time he’s posted something stupid without thinking. I’m beginning to think he’s just an asshat.

  6. Jeez, get a sense of humor. I am pretty sure he doesn’t really wish to be unemployed or he would quit his job. Anyways, I know plenty of people stressed out about being unemployed but they’re making the most of it..

  7. @14: There’s really nothing humorous about this posting. Thousands of people are hurting badly without jobs, and this asshole (and you) thinks this is worth a good chuckle? Fuck yourselves. (And yes, I’m luck enough to have a job right now, but I have some compassion.)

  8. you west coasters are out of control with political correctness mania. It was a fucking joke. give the guy a break. you never make tasteless jokes? then what the fuck are you doing reading slog?

  9. @15: perhaps I’m being too charitable, but my sense of the post is that it’s more about Seattle on a nice day than about being unemployed. Poor way to frame his point? Sure. Proof that Christopher’s an asshole? Doubtful.

  10. There has always been thousands of hurting, unemployed people and now you and everyone else has compassion because it affects YOUR family, friends and possibly YOU.

    So no, fuck yourself.

    P.S. – I’m unemployed.

  11. I feel the same way every summer… just learned about a friend getting laid off, and for a moment, right before I sent him my condolences, I felt a slight tinge of jealousy.

Then again, maybe a better way of saying it is I wish my last name was Hilton so I never had to work again.

  12. Megan Seling should delete this post. It adds nothing to the conversation of unemployment, and, quite frankly, is horridly offensive.

    Go on, Megan. Delete it.

  13. @26

When have I ever wanted something deleted? I’m not asking for this post to actually be deleted, you idiot. There’s a message here.

  14. nice…that’s like seeing the sweet parking spot a disabled person gets and saying “i wish my legs didn’t work”.

    you fucktard

  15. Well. I, for one, vastly prefer being unemplyed and broke on days like this. I may envy you your paycheck, but I don’t envy you your actual job today. So, you have my sympathy. :p

  16. Oh, calm the fuck down. My life would be less stressful if I had a job, but I sure did love getting tan as I sat outside and fretted about it all day long.
