The Stranger Election Control Board didn’t endorse Jessie Israel in her run for the city council, but we wanted to be good sports and cheer by her side tonight as election returns show her advancing to the general election. It will be her versus Nick Licata (that Marty guy doesn’t have a chance). But Israel’s got a real shot and we wanted join in her special times.

So you can imagine the SECB’s dismay when Israel told us this morning that we couldn’t join her at her election-night party unless we offered to “wave signs” or “donate” to the campaign. Well, gee, Jessie, we don’t got much money. But we can wave a sign. We searched for a “Jessie Israel” sign all over town this afternoon—but we couldn’t find a single one (we did see ton of Licata signs, though). So lacking for a sign we dug out a Jessie Israel mailer:

Here’s Stranger freelancer Bryan Bissell “enthusiastically” waving a Jessie Israel sign. You’re welcome. We’ll see you tonight. (PS—We like our beer cold, our carrot sticks slimy, and our deviled eggs with capers on top.)

EVERYONE ELSE: We’ll be coming to your party and reporting back to the voting masses all night here on Slog.

  1. The heck with that. I’m going to the Newmark Tower to have fun with NickLicata – he’s got way better drinks. After I drop by Mike O’Brien’s for some food.

  2. Ties are pretty much the best fashion accessory a guy can wear. Particularly since so many non-square types are scared to death that it will brand them as squares.

    Lookin’ good, Bryan!
