The second best dudes-in-dresses comedy troupe, the Kids in the Hall, are coming back to TV in new CBC miniseries called “Death Comes to Town.”

From Variety:

The eight-part series was conceived by Bruce McCulloch and co-written by McCulloch and fellow Kids Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson.

Directed by Kelly Makin, who helmed the original “Kids in the Hall” series and movie, “Brain Candy,” the series is about what happens in a small town when all its most distinguished citizens are murdered. A suspect is arrested, there’s a trial and many dark secrets are revealed along the way.

Sounds hilarious.

I have always loved “The Kids.” I saw them, over ten years ago, when they performed, here in Seattle, and I saw Scott Thompson, again, over ten years ago, when he performed his “Buddy Cole” routine at the U of W. I was even able to get him to sign my copy of his “Buddy Cole Autobiography” book, after his show.

    After signing my book, he bummed a cigarette off of me. I have since quit smoking, but will always remember that smoke we shared fondly.

  19. uh, this new projected series sounds like a complete rip-off of The League of Gentlemen which, if you haven’t seen it, (and I don’t think you have) is a comedy troup of THREE men who play ALL the major characters in a small village in England who all interact with each other in various major and minor plotlines. KITH, on the other hand, played multiple characters, but the sketches and characters were NOT interrelated in a common location. TLOG didn’t invent this conceit, of course, (hello, Alec Guiness and Peter Sellars, among others!) but KITH has admitted that the new show is like TLOG, which is honest of them, but it IS a bit unoriginal of them.
