Who knew that The Greatest Story Ever Told was also “some of the most important content ever written”? So says Aaron Linne, who’s figured out how to monetize the Bible on the Xbox 360: starting next month, you can download Bible Navigator X, the complete, searchable Old and New Testaments, for just 400 Microsoft Points, aka $5. (Rumors concerning a cheat code for Leviticus remain unconfirmed.)
Whatever happened to pushing free electronic Bibles on BBSes, like back in olden Internet times? And also, fun: This particular Bible is the Holman Christian Standard, a modern translation owned by the conservative Southern Baptist Convention, with its origins in the backlash against the politically correct New International Version. No word on whether you can download a patch to switch your “sons of God” back to “children of God.”
- “Now gamers can have fun and follow their faith!”

There’s the germ of a great idea for a first person shooter here. Or more likely a first person stabber or even stoner. You could call it Rod of Righteousness. You could play Abraham, Moses, Joseph or King David. Burning bushes, turning rivers to blood, hand to hand smiting, virgin raping, killing every last male, female and child Caananite–it’s got it all! Forget Call of Duty, you play this game, and you really do have God on your side (unless you piss him off by falling for the Golden Calf trick).
Bible Navigator X? Is that the one where Jesus is awakened and goes on a murderous rampage on spaceship in the 25th century?

X-Box Live also lets you give a star rating to downloads. This one’s getting one star if anything from me.
Please say they are doing a RockBand-esque game with Christian music! Wooo Stryper!
Whenever I’m playing stick figure games online, I always choose to be Christ with an Uzi.
