On Friday, I linked to a review of Glenn Beck’s live movie event, The Christmas Sweater.

Today, it looks like The Christmas Sweater is a bomb:

Despite heavy promotion on Beckโ€™s radio and TV shows, and in-theater trailers, ticket sales were weak in major cities: Beck sold only 17 tickets in Boston, another 17 in New York, and just 30 in Washington, DC. Raw Story reports that, while sales were better in more conservative areas, even Seattle โ€” which is near Beckโ€™s hometown โ€” couldnโ€™t muster a strong crowd

Seattle only sold 70 of 415 tickets for the show, but the show in Lynnwood sold out. It’s like the 2004 electoral map all over again, but the difference here is that you need the blue states to turn a profit. Glenn Beck’s Christmas movie is a failure.

  1. Beck sells impotent rage. That’s what his fans demand from him. Trying to sell warm fuzzy feelings is diluting the brand.

It’s like Blackwater offering a singing-telegram service. Stick with what you’re good at, people.

  2. Hmm, not surprised the showing in Lynnwood sold out. Seems to be The Place for wacko conservative events these days. Wasn’t the Watchmen on the Walls conference held there too?

  3. From what I have read about it production costs seem to have been almost non-existent, theaters might have not made much money but I have a feeling the project was quite profitable for Glenn Beck.

oh great, now the American Taliban is donning explosives.

we knew their fashion sense was alway terrible, but before it only made you wish you were dead.

  5. @6 – I demand strip searches of right wing Talibangelists at air ports – make them take off their Christmas sweaters!

Preferably outside where it’s nice and frosty.

  6. I’d only watch this if there was a guy and two robots sitting in the front, right-side seats of the place cracking jokes about it the whole time.
