Of COURSE he signed it in a Unitarian church. We’ve been performing same-sex marriages for almost 30 years, it’s just that y’all are now catching up to us.

Religious people who say they are opposed to same-sex marriage on “freedom of religion” grounds are, of course, opposed to freedom of religion. Not only do they want the freedom for their religions to choose to not marry same-sex couples, but they want to forbid religious people, such as Unitarians, from having the freedom to choose to marry them.
The solution to the whole same-sex marriage thing should be simple: all couples should have the right to have a civil union, for legal purposes, and then it would be up to each particular religion (or church within a religion) to decide to “marry” them or not.
Denying same-sex couples the right to get married on — when you strip away all the bombast and posturing by religious conservatives — the basis that the Bible says it’s a “sin” — is an egregious lack of separation of church and state. It is a truly bizarre state of affairs when a man who rapes a woman, or someone who molests a child or murders someone, can get married but a gay man or a lesbian who has never hurt anyone cannot. Gays and lesbians aren’t a threat to marriage and family stability. It’s my fellow straight people, like Tiger Woods, who are.
