I’ll Show You a Story

Next Wednesday, May 19 at 7 p.m., I’m hosting an event at Central Cinema called I’ll Show You a Story. The event is sponsored by the city’s Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Writers are tasked with incorporating a visual element into the story they’re telling, which will be projected onto Central Cinema’s big-ass movie screen. For instance, Hugo House writer Brian McGuigan talks about growing up fat in Fat Fuck: An Encyclopedia of Weight Loss Tips, Tricks, and Follys. Local writer Josh Zinn is a 17-year-old gay boy running away from home to meet up with his 30-year-old lover at Disney Land.

I’m hosting the event but also performing. Before I started writing the news, uh, three months ago, I was a writer-in-residence for the Richard Hugo House. I’ll be reading about a woman whose best friend is a death-row psychotic and writes children’s morality fables.

There will be short films in between the performances. Here are the details:

Central Cinema serves dinner, beer, and wine. We’ll provide the fat fucks, fags, and psychopaths. It should be a fun night.
