Britney Spears has joined the ranks of celebrities breaking into the art scene, following in the footsteps of stars like George W. Bush and Jim Carrey.
Spears has sold her Instagram famous painting for $10,000 to none other than The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' Robin Leach.
In case you missed the video of Britney painting outside of a mansion in October, captioned "Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!!" followed by a stream of emojis, here it is:
The background enhances the Renaissance women at work: ivy walls, classical music, and Britney's boobs falling out as she comfortably paints the a future masterpiece, making a weirdly relaxing, ASMR-type video.
The painting that sold for five figures showcases gemstone colored flowers surrounded by small purple squiggles, something to the likes of what I probably also drew when I was eight years old.
But to her credit, Spears donated the piece to the Vegas Cares Concert and Auction, where the proceeds will be used to help fund a memorial for the victims and first responders of the Las Vegas shooting last month. Spears has been living in Las Vegas for the past four years, playing shows almost nightly during her residency at Planet Hollywood. Spears' show "Piece of Me" is one of the most successful shows ever in Vegas, earning over $100 million in ticket sales, which doesn't even delve into the remaining shows or merchandise.
And she's been putting that fortune to good use beyond auctioning her art. Since opening night, Spears has been donating $1 of every ticket sold to the Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation. Since 2014, she's raised over $1 million, which the foundation used to open the the Britney Spears Campus at NCCF.
Britney is also very active on Instagram. She's been posting videos of her painting for the past year or so, and she posts plenty of other good content. She posts inspirational quotes, memes, and one woman runway shows.
In the original video, Britney is actually working on two paintings side by side. Next to her $10,000 flowery masterpiece is another canvas filled with longer, twisting multi-colored squiggles.
Will this be her next tour de force?
