TUESDAY:

The King County Department of Transportation hosts a community meeting on the South Park Bridge closure. Learn where your bus will be re-routed and what the city and county plans to do to minimize traffic problems when the bridge closes on June 30. Speaking of failing roadways, there are two Viaduct Replacement open house presentations from the State Department of Transportation to update the public on the replacement project and answer questions. West Seattle's meeting is on Tuesday (Madison Middle School, 3429 45th Avenue SW, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and Ballard's meeting is Wednesday (Ballard High School, 1418 NW 65th Street, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

The Downtown Design Review Board has an Early Design Guidance meeting for a project in Belltown that would demolish the relatively squat American Lung Association building at 2625 Third Ave (next to the Rite Aid) and replace it with a combined retail/apartment building with four levels of below-grade parking. Today's meeting of Seattle's Metropolitan Democratic Club features a panel discussion on the proposed State Initiative 1077 (the "state income tax on rich folks" initiative). The panel will include William Gates, Sr., UW Professor James Gregory, former Governor Mike Lowry, State Treasurer Jim McIntire and State Representative Bob Hasegawa discussing the budget crisis and ideas for economic reform.
