MONDAY:

City council member Sally Bagshaw hosts a public forum on the future of the Cal Anderson Park surveillance cameras. This was scheduled before the news broke that cameras may have footage of the attempted bombing in Times Square, but the sudden relevance (if you consider Cal Anderson Park a prime terrorism target!) should make for a lively discussion. (Miller Community Center, 330 19th Avenue East, Seattle, sign-in at 5:00 p.m., meeting at 5:30 p.m., comments start at 6:30 p.m.)

As Paul mentioned earlier, doctor-turned-writer Atul Gawande speaks on "Real Reform: What is Great Health Care?" tonight. (Benaroya Hall, 200 University Street, 7:30 p.m., $25.)

TUESDAY:

It's the final Seattle City Council Public Budget Hearings. If there's a neighborhood community center or park you want to save from the budget axe, this is your opportunity to make your case. Please note, however, that the city's money tree was recently cut down to stump, which was subsequently put through the wood chipper. (North Seattle Community College, Cafeteria, 9600 College Way North, 5:00 pm sign in, 5:30 p.m. meeting.)
