This is the school district I grew up in. Glad to see them finally get spanked for this shit. I was on the receiving end of that BS many many times. I hope something comes of this.
It is infuriating that school districts across the country continue to deny allegations that they are not doing enough to protect their students from bullying. Aberdeen is one of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of school districts, across the country, which claims that it is doing all that it can to keep children safe. Yet, the reality is that many schools are NOT doing all that they can. And many of them are not even trying, at all.
Is this the example that we are supposed to be setting for our children, as educators?...that it is acceptable to turn a blind eye to injustice?...and even worse, that it is acceptable to skirt one's obligations to friends, family, and clients and then lie and say that we, in fact, did not!?! This is disgusting.
The bullying issue is getting worse and worse--particularly among LGBTQ youth, and school district after school district is claiming that they are not responsible for the persistence of the problem, nor do they care enough to implement any meaningful changes that could actually help some of these kids escape this psychological abuse and build the confidence that they need to go on and live happy, productive lives.
Parents and teachers who care about this issue need to band together and rise up against this problem in our schools. Enough is enough. If we're supposed to be "the land of the free" & "the home of the brave," then parents and educators across the nation need to seriously "grow a pair" and stand up for the future of our country—our youth!
In third grade I was in a split-class, 10 kids being third-graders and 12 being in fourth. I was the smallest, sickliest and smartest in that class. That was great. Every day, without fail, one particular asshole would take everything off of my desk and put it in the trash can. When I would read any of the stories that I had written for assignments, he would engage the class in mocking me as I read aloud. The teacher thought he was hilarious. The only thing she did to encourage better behavior in that classroom was to not let me use the restroom because my frequent trips (where, you know, I hid in a stall) were a disruption to the class. I would love to sue that woman.
Nevermind its taxpayer money, They ALL owe me!
Get real or get OUT!
