The members of the Washington State Redistricting Commission—explained here—were sworn in today down at the Temple of Justice in Olympia.

From left to right: Secretary of State Sam Reed, who introduced the new members but is not part of the commission; Republican appointee to the commission Tom Huff, a former state House budget chairman; Republican appointee Slade Gorton, a former U.S. Senator; Democratic appointee Dean Foster, a former chief of staff to Gov. Booth Gardner; and Democratic appointee Tim Ceis, a former deputy Seattle mayor.
The four appointed commission members will select a fifth member to serve as chair, and then set about the business of redrawing Washington's maps to accommodate a 10th congressional district. They have until the end of this year to complete their work.
