Well, that was quick. Seattle Public Schools announced today that it has an interim chief financial officer, less than a week after the Seattle School Board ousted the district's Chief Financial and Operations Officer Don Kennedy.
The board also voted to terminate district superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson following an investigation that revealed that neither Kennedy nor Goodloe-Johnson had provided enough oversight to prevent the loss of $1.8 million in public funds.
Robert S. Boesche started his new job as interim CFO today and has previously served as an interim chief financial officer for several Puget Sound school districts, including Edmonds, Shoreline, Vashon Island, Monroe, and Kent. He was also employed as chief financial officer for the Northshore School District from June 1989 until he retired in November 2001, the district said.
Boesche will remain interim CEO while the school board embarks on a national search for someone to fill the role permanently. The board has decided to split the former chief finance and operations officer job into two parts, and will also be looking for a chief operating officer.
