It’s going to be a beautiful weekend in Seattle—probably the last one until next May—and boy, have all our favorite neighborhood blogs got suggestions for what to do with yourself. (Hint: none of them involve sitting on the couch.) And don’t forget—The 520 floating bridge is closed from 11:00 p.m. tonight until Monday at 5:00 a.m.

TONIGHT
The African Children’s Choir is performing tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the West Seattle Christian Church. The group looks pretty legit, and I’d recommend checking it out. (West Seattle Christian Church, 7:00 p.m., free.)

If you’re more of a sports lover, check out the US National Lawn Bowling Championships at Jefferson Park, ongoing until Sunday. (Jefferson Park, full schedule here, free.)

SATURDAY
If you like adorable things, shrug off your hangover and become a volunteer seal sitter! (Discovery Park Visitor Center, 9:30-11:30 a.m., free.)

MOHAI is hosting a tour of the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, if you prefer long drives on Aurora and dead things to baby seals. (Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, 10:00 a.m.-noon, $15 MOHAI members/$20 general admission.)

Finally, BYOCake to celebrate an open house birthday party at the CakeSpy shop. Napkins, forks, and milk provided (but not cake). (CakeSpy shop, noon-4:00 p.m., free admission with cake.)

SUNDAY
Get out for Bicycle Sunday this weekend! Seattle Parks and Recreation is shutting down the lake-front boulevard for some exercise on a beautiful day. Bonus: piss off people like me who regularly use the boulevard for actual transportation! (Lake Washington Boulevard, south of the Mount Baker Crew House, every Sunday from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., free.)

Later in the afternoon, head on over to the last event of 2011 Beacon Rocks! at South Lander Street and check out a bunch of musical acts, a street renaming, and dignitaries including the illustrious Mayor Mike McGinn. I hear he looks positively beauteous at sunset. (South Lander Street—north of the Beacon Hill link station, 1:00-6:00 p.m., free.)

  1. I’d add that Saturday night is the Beebo Brinker Cabaret at ACT, and Ann Bannon herself will attend. She’s the Queen of Lesbian Pulp Fiction, by the way. Hey Stranger, how come no lesbians on staff after all these years?
