That’s nothin. My branch manager gave me a handy the other day.
I hope “new bank” was a typo, and what you meant was “new credit union”.
@2: This a newspaper. So don’t be such a stickler for words.
Well, which is it–bank or credit union?
@4: I guess you’ll just have to read Wednesday’s paper.
Credit Union – which also has free machines in 7-11s, my best guess for the coffee and corn dog location.
@2 for the win.
@5 for the MSM follow-the-tickler-but-we-won’t-tell-you-until-the-end-of-the-broadcast epic fail.
@6 I think you nailed that one. Good call.
best switch I ever made, too. congrats, goldy!
Oooh, I may have switched to the same one. The best part is the beautiful walk there.
And pretty soon you can have your packages sent there. Woot!
They financed my 44 year old car for me because it was still under the mileage requirement. That sealed the cool deal for me.
@6 I think is correct. I have a CU and I always know there’s free banking and a spicy big bite within blocks of wherever I find myself.
Industrial food and big supply chains are killing the planet and poisoning humanity.
If it ain’t one thing, it’s another.
CU’s are great. But those ATMs at 7-11s and other inconvenience stores are notoriously insecure and the target of scammers.
Be careful out there.
Corn dogs and banking, a beautiful combination… and they said it couldn’t be done.
It’s like showing the man by supporting the man. And zomg!, not even American!
It’s always odd and jarring to see certain sites unblocked of ads.
You get props though for hiding or auto-hiding the dock. Whenever Dan posts similar photos the dock is there and it drives me nuts for some reason.
I just switched from Bank of America too. I had wanted to for a while, but the new fees were the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I am totally stunned by the quality of service, convenience and general lack of propensity to ream me out the ass offered by my new bank. I can’t see any reason why anyone would stay with the big four, especially considering how poorly and inconsiderately they regularly treat their customers.
Not to mention the government bailouts and fraudulent foreclosures and so on and so forth.
I am joining PTSA membership now that my school PTSA has switched from Bank of America to Verity Credit Union. Now if only the political candidates I support would leave the big banks for credit unions and/or show support for a state bank (SLOG tip: Web of Debt author Ellen Hodgson Brown is attending the Public Bank Forum Oct. 26 @ Kane Hall, University of Washington) …
OK, this might seem like a stupid question. It probably is. But now that I’ve opened my BECU account, what’s the best way to transfer my money from my old bank? Can I just write myself a big ol’ check and deposit it in the new account? Do I have to do a stupid money order or whatnot?
The nice people at BECU will help you do this. You can actually do the whole thing online: basically, set up an interbank transfer on your credit union online account, link your old bank account to it, then once that’s all in place, just transfer the money.
Thanks Geni! I’ll check it out.
