Meh, speaking as a certain breed of gay guy, I'm quite prepared to admit that I'm quite a bit of a misogynist myself. Oh, I have no trouble working with women professionally (though I'm drawn to jobs where men predominate) and socially if I have to. But frankly, all my life, I've simply far, far preferred the company of guys and had very little use for women at all.
It's actually kind of an interesting tension in the progressive coalition that I've never really heard spoken to. Much of feminism seems to me to involve erasing the gender distinctions between men and women. But, of course, for gay men and lesbians, those distinctions really, really matter. We risk giving up tons and tons of social capital on account of them.
It makes me wonder just how much of a true feminist a gay guy can really be.
Speaking as another gay man, I have to say that misogyny is not now, nor has it ever been, a large part of my life. Going back to early childhood, many, if not most, of my closest friendships have been with women. I've been closer to my sisters than my brothers, and my best friend at work for the last 23 years has been a woman. While I agree that, in certain contexts, gender distinctions matter very much, I would differ from you in that I think being gay has allowed me to see past a lot of artificial and arbitrary gender boundaries, and I would consider myself to be very much a feminist.
@ honey.. feminism does NOT involve erasing gender distinctions at all. if you're parsing your thoughts to configure what 'use' you have for women. if you 'prefer' women to men. this also suggests that you don't like them very much.. you won't disrespect them, but you won't include them in your decision making or even bother with them as friends, they don't exist for you as multidimensional people with who you share humanity. you are not available to feminism if you're not available as a comrade or as a friend.
and this shit has absolutely nothing to do with being gay. you'd be completely misogynist as a straight man as well. except then your lack of preference towards them as human beings would express itself as outright hatred.
Romney's already dead in the water as far as women voters go anyway... I doubt even this can make it any worse. The only women who are likely to vote for him are the submissive wives of die-hard republicans. They'll simply vote for whoever their husbands order them to vote for.

It seems to me that there are still plenty of feminine, curvy women out there who are widely regarded as hot. I'm not quite sure where you're getting this "monomorphic, unisex" idea you're talking about.
If you're limiting your discussion to fashion models, please keep in mind that what a fashion designer wants is someone whose body won't distract attention from the clothes. What the average heterosexual male wants is a woman in clothes that will show off her body. There is a big difference between the two, and there are a lot more heterosexual males than there are fashion designers.
@15- OOOOH! You're not a drone after all. You're raindrop! Never able to get over the fact that Rachel Maddow isn't trying to attract your attentions, even under the guise of a new name.
Oh, wait ... never mind.

Here, I'll take some of the heat off you: I question the authenticity of your gayness if you haven't got a hag or two.

Idiot.
I still enjoy seeing this, given that Republicans have been trying to brand Democrats as the "real" misogynists, just like we're the "real" racists.
As you know the real War on Women has been conducted over the last few decades by Agendists.
The role of the Agenda is to promote the monomorphic unisex role. Women have been shaped into the form of New York style male models.
The small breasted, muscled, square jawed "female" of the Courtney Cox style becomes the modern iPod, Jettaed uber-woman of urbists and densifiers.

Gosh, perhaps you haven't heard shit about it because you can't stand to talk to or about women?
