Yeah...not nearly as good. Response ads have to be damn good in and of themselves. The whole point is to avoid looking like you're straggling behind, staying on the defensive of someone that's clearly thinking ahead of you while addressing the issue raised by the opponent.
They're claiming that President Obama is bad for the middle class, but they haven't effectively made the claim that Romney is good for the middle class.
If you pay attention to anyone who is ostensibly a Romney supporter (meaning conservative pundits and any right wing blogger/troll), you'll see that none of them make any kind of case for Rmoney either. It's always about what's wrong with Obama. And the things things they name are almost always the result of past GOP policies, like the wars in the Middle East (Bush), the deficit/national debt (GOP tax cuts for the wealthy) and the economic collapse (banking deregulation - but Clinton owns part of that); or the result of GOP obstructionism, like refusing to vote on the jobs bill but trying to repeal Obamacare 30+ times.
But... no one ever says why they want to vote for Romney, or how a Rmoney presidency will be better than Obama's. That's largely because most of them STILL don't like Romney, and STILL wish someone else could have run as a True Conservative® who wasn't also a fucking whackjob. But it's also because Rmoney doesn't seem willing to say what it is he will do as president. Probably because it will be more of the same old Republican shit we got with W, who isn't very popular these days.
Yeah I didn't really read any of the text because I was too busy enjoying Obama's charming-as-hell singing voice and the adoring cheers that went along with it. Better luck next time, Rs.
I'm wondering if the 'Donor class' comment is meant to be preemptive for conservative voters, i.e., "That socialist is already doing it, I'm happy we can out raise and get the 'right' influence". Think of it as swiftboating Obama to cover the hideous amount of money coming down the pike for mittens.
@8 - They've had to resort to "donor class" because their computers are all set to replace the word "rich" with "job creators."
@1 - Exactly. They can put whatever words on the screen they want, but all I heard was Obama saying he loves me. I wouldn't go gay for the man, but if I accidentally equip a Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity, Michelle better watch out.
Mitt might not pull out this 'image building' as Governor, but the AP has an article on how he tried craft a 'Foolproof' Capital Punishment Law. Two interesting quotes...
...he said would be a "gold standard for the death penalty in the modern scientific age."
...Even Romney conceded the possibility of human fallibility during a public hearing on the measure. "A 100 percent guarantee? I don't think there's such a thing in life. Except perhaps death — for all of us," Romney said, although he described the proposal "as foolproof a death penalty as exists."
Jesus Christ, I made a joke on another thread last night about Romney's people using that Obama clip, and I am almost surprised that they actually did it.
@13 - I just saw the same thing. I'm no big city lawyah, but I don't think footage of a public official, in public, singing a single line from an Al Green song, constitutes copyright infringement...
This did none of those things.

*scrooge mcduck style...

Brilliant reporting, Constant.
Truly exceptional.
