Seattle City Council member Richard Conlin has been in office for 16 years, but this year he’s facing a challenger who, according to political wisdom, shouldn’t be giving him any trouble. Kshama Sawant is a brash socialist with little money. She raised only $21,330 to Conlin’s whopping $154,298. But Sawant won 35 percent in the primary election while Conlin got less than 48 percent. So this morning, Conlin’s campaign manager sent out this unctuous plea for cash that says his opponents are “starting the spin.”
