i think it's just my browser, but instead of an embedded video or image all i see is a large black rectangle, which seems perfectly appropriate.
thank god these people don't have access to guns.
2
Isn't this sort of just like reporting what the insane person on the street corner is yelling this week?

I know it is fun to laugh at morons, but it seems silly to just report on anything some random idiot states. It is not like this guy is Cardinal Dolan.
4
What's the biblical cure for stupidity? And I agree with @2. Don't give a platform to these pissant asshats.
6
So, Theodore, we should just let the hate speech go, and not call it out?

Yeah, that has worked out really well in the past -- Not.

Know thy enemy.
8
Yeah cuz only gays ever get HIV.
9
@6: Shouldn't you be angry then at The Stranger for not reporting on every person who says things things everyday? Thousands of religious figures make this claim everyday, in addition to thousands of individuals. By your logic, The Stranger is letting hate speech go by not tracking more of them and posting about it.

Know thy enemy, right?
11
Wow. I'd bet a chunk this guy's a closet case. Sad for him.
12
@6 Unless who you "call out" actually matters it accomplishes nothing.

All you're doing is signaling "I'm not like this" all day long.

Internet outrage posting is narcissistic ego stroking for people who, deep down, are uncertain of their principles so they have to signal to other people all the time - "I'm GOOD. See this guy... THEY'RE BAD!". It's a total waste of time and energy.
13
@1 I'm getting the black box, too.

@2 & 9 Looks like plenty of insane street-corner yellers willingly post in its comments; no need for The Stranger to report on every hateful claim made by every person who says things every day.
14
Arizona is giving Florida a run for its money in the "who has the most/craziest crazies" stakes.

Also, why are the bible-bashers so fixated on men lying with men? Why isn't the angry old testament god upset about women lying with women?
15
So long as Christians insist they're being persecuted by the Gay Agenda, legitimately threatening speeches by even the fringiest Christian wackos deserve an airing.
16
Further evidence for the realization that violence actually stems from morality.
WHY would anyone hurt you? Why would you hurt or kill someone else? Contrary to popular perception, people are rarely violent simply because they lose control and fail to think about right and wrong. They rarely commit violence because they lack empathy and fail to see their victims as fully human. And almost no one is violent because they draw sadistic pleasure from the suffering of others.

Across cultures and history, there is generally one motive for hurting or killing: people are violent because it feels like the right thing to do. They feel morally obliged to do it.
17

18
@16 FTW.
19
How about just ignoring these fringe wackjobs? Aren't you just giving them the publicity they crave?
20
@14: Because that's hott, and God is a pervert.
22
@21

I'm a Christian who personally finds sermons like the one linked here repulsive and not Christ like. Having said which plenty of lefty bigots about Christianity have lied about sermons (see Mike Huckabee and the notorious liar Alan Grayson) . So I'd have to say the rest of that sermon would have to have been a refutation of the clip shown to be acceptable.

However, I'm also unsure to what faith xtian refers. Not Baptist at any rate, which is Christian.
23
If that guy has his own congregation, my heart goes out to any gay kid growing up in it.
24
If this guy really cared about the Law, he'd be calling for the execution or exile of anyone who eats black pudding. Also he wouldn't have a crucifix (gonna go out on a limb and assume that a pastor has a crucifix).

@14: Because in contemporary pagan religions, temple prostitutes were really only a male thing.
26
(to clarify, it was a "male thing" in that men went to them. there were female temple prostitutes too.)
27
@19 - Ignoring fundamentalist movements just leads to wondering how the fundamentalists took over your schools, your government, and your private life. Ask the Iranian secularists about it.
28
@25

You want something called "xtians" to disavow hateful sermons appearing to incite violence.
I agree, if you're mistakenly calling a Christan an xtian. And if the sermon was in fact such an incitement. I can speak only for myself, not the billion or so Christians worldwide, but if this sermon was as hate filled as it appears it has no place in a Christians mouth or mind, particularly if that Christian is a pastor.
29
@22: If someone emails you "merry xmas" in a week, what is your response?
I really can't believe that the guy who calls homosexuals "fags and dykes" (or sometimes "fags and dukes") is complaining about people writing "xtian" to mean "Christian". OH WAIT, I CAN. The guy in question will throw a fit if anything he likes is at all maligned, but has no problem heaping all sorts of abuse on people with different lifestyles (gay, non-Christian, cyclist) than him. He can dish it out but he can't take it, the colossal wuss.
30
@29

You're right.

Homosexual is in fact a lifestyle choice, like faith or treating a kids plaything as a serious transportation option.

Glad you finally admit it, if a bit surprised.
31
Also, Seattleblues, I have a (currently unanswered) question for you. You said in that "faces in the crowd" thread that "[d]ecent people leave other folks [sic] kids out of politics".
How do you reconcile that statement (one with which I agree) with your repeated insistence that Dan and Terry's parenting is ruining their son's life? Your opinion that gay couples shouldn't be allowed to raise children is certainly political, and you're invoking someone else's kid in an attempt to make a point. Please explain.
32
@30: Ah ah, I said "lifestyle", not "lifestyle choice". I don't believe I've ever denied the existence of a gay lifestyle; it differs from the straight lifestyle in that it involves dating people of one's own gender and (in the case of males) having better fashion sense. Is it a choice? Only the fashion sense bit.
Hear me now and believe me later! Go for a bike ride and feel the blood surge through your muscles as the rubber whines on the asphalt and the wind screams through the spokes. It's quite invigorating, and I'm sure it'll do you some good, you flabby loser.
33
In a more sane world, twisted, hateful people like that idjit pastor and seattlebooboos would get tossed on a flaming pyre by a united community tired of their deleterious effect on society.

For the record, if you count the millions of victims worldwide, AIDS is overwhelmingly a straight disease. Meanwhile, any parents stupid or evil enough to stay in that church should demand the pastor be tested for AIDS. Bad enough their kids might be at risk by a potential kiddie-fucker, they should at least know he's not infected.
34
And to clarify the "lifestyle" versus "lifestyle choice" bit, I offer the following:
Paraplegics certainly lead a different lifestyle from people who have the use of their legs. They're generally dependent on a wheelchair and as such frequent different places, live in different kinds of homes, and engage in different kinds of sports. Is it a choice? Not remotely.
Southpaws have a different lifestyle too, though not as drastically different. They just use their left hands for most things where your average person will use their right. Is it a choice? No more than the gay lifestyle is a choice. A left-hander could use his right hand for things, and a gay man could date a women, but neither would work out very well and it would clash with the neurological wiring.

In summary: ur a faget

@22 Like you know jack shit about Baptist church doctrine in general let alone the current conversations going on within the various Baptist congregations and seminaries on homosexuality, ethics, and theology. In short the Baptist church's stance on homosexuality is evolving and acceptance of God's grace towards homosexuality slowly coming to the fore. Not that I expect you of all people to be aware of that, it is pretty deep complex esoteric stuff, doctrinal changes always are and are always slow to bubble to the surface where casual shallow thinking members like you dwell.
36
@22 said:
I'm a Christian
And I'm a Chinese Jet Pilot.
37
@30 - Two wheels good, Four wheels bad. That is the law. Everyone is equal, but bicycles are more equal than other transport.
When gasoline hits $8 a gallon, you'll be eating my dust, Swamp-lung!
38
@32 "having better fashion sense." *cough* Er not all of us, I pretty much missed out on that part of being Gay. Unless you count being aware that I have little fashion sense and compensate by seeking advice when needed.
39
@35

Oddly I agree with you on most of your facts. As usual your interpretation of them is, um, peculiar. But what I know of Baptists is that they're generally regarded as a sect of Christianity. At a minimum that means they believe in the divinity of Christ who was born, crucified and ressurected as a means of giving grace to all who seek it. Beyond that, not being Baptist, the details haven't been important to me. But if they're "evolving" to a belief that unrepentant sin is acceptable they're skirting the line between Christianity and apostasy. Nothing deep or esoteric about that, though there is something potentially damning.

But God through Christ of course extends grace to all, homosexual lifestyle included, who repent of their sins and move to a better life. No doctrinal questions about that.
40
@33

Thank you for proving that virulent hatefilled bigotry leading to cries for violence are a human phenomenon, not a Christian one.
42
did someone already tell him that splattering hiv+ blood everywhere is an excellent way of contracting the virus without ever doing the butt sex thing with another man... seems a bit of a fatal flaw in the god plan...
43
"Jesus, protect me from your followers."

$100 says that he's a closeted raunchy bottom who posts his ass pics on craigslist and is later caught in the restroom getting fucked by some trucker.

He is the type that wants his wife barefoot and pregnant at home while he's out getting fucked.
45
I can't help but notice that 100% of the pictures of this guy feature him wearing the same suit. Does he only own the one suit? Are there only five people in his church?

I wish I could laugh harder at this guy, but the fact that he represents the opinions of even a fraction of the percentage of my fellow citizens, whose votes count as much as mine, stoppers that inclination. That said, you just know he practices a wide stance.
46
@39: What makes opposition to homosexuality an integral part of Christianity? Different branches of the faith have different stances on many social issues, from divorce to the Sabbath to priestly celibacy. But you wouldn't accuse any sects of apostasy because of their stances on those issues. Why is homosexuality different from all the rest?
Answer: because YOU think so and YOU, with your dearth of education in general and lack of any background in theological studies, consider your opinions to trump all others. From a theological perspective I'd consider your attitude idolatrous and blasphemous, but I'm not going to demand that anyone who disagrees be considered an apostate.
47
@35 Oh well then my bad. I took your line in #22 " Not Baptist at any rate, which is Christian. " to imply that you are a Baptist. Ok so your not.

Lutheran maybe, perhaps Presbyterian, Episcopalian, High church Anglican? I know Methodists, "I'm a Methodist Methodist till I die I'm a Methodist I believe." You've made other comments that pretty much rule out Catholic. Greek or Russian Orthodox perhaps.

No matter you are still clueless with regards to the doctrinal conversations going on within all of those Christian Denominations.
