Yesterday, I pointed out that Chris Christie seemed to whiff the answer to a question on immigration reform, which suggested to me that he was trying to make a play for the affections of the hard right. Meanwhile, far-right Breitbart commenters seem to think that Christie was making a play for the left:

Christie likes to think of himself as a straight-talking tough guy, but he can’t even handle simple questions from a dandy like Stephanopoulos. Everyone knows that Christie is an open borders goon. Why can’t he just man up and admit to it? It’s not as if people like me who oppose illegal immigration will ever vote for him anyway.
Just doing what Karl Rove orders him to do.
Nominate Christie and watch Hillary be inaugurated in 2017. This guy is absolutley toxic to conservative values. If the Republicans have to run a loser like this “to be competitive”, they don’t want my vote (and they won’t get it).
