At rush hour on Thursday, May 17, a woman driving a yellow Camaro tried to navigate her way past construction workers on Beach Drive SW in West Seattle while ignoring their directions. The woman, according to a report filed by Officer Rees, was being flagged to the left of some cones. She then asked if she could stay to the right in order to “avoid the puddle,” a request which the flagger denied. According to the flagger’s account to police, the woman then “lunged her car at him,” forcing the flagger to put his hands on the car and “push off to avoid being hit.” The site foreman reported turning around just in time to see the flagger “bounce off the hood of the car,” at which point the woman allegedly exited her vehicle and declared loudly, “I didn’t want to go through the puddle.” Police were called to the scene and found the woman still yelling at the two construction workers. No arrests were made, for reasons Officer Rees doesn’t explain.
