Jamie Skorheim of MyNorthwest.com picked up some so-called Democratic gossip from local conservative talk show host Michael Medved:

“This is truly, truly trending in the Democrat world – that Hillary won’t run. In which case, Gary Locke would not be just a vice presidential possibility,” says 770 KTTH host Michael Medved.

This is about as silly as presidential speculation gets. First, and most importantly, I don’t think Michael Medved is especially well-connected in the Democratic Party’s gossip pipeline. Medved probably doesn’t even have special connections to the modern Republican Party, let alone the Democratic Party. Secondly, we’re almost three years away from a time when vice presidential gossip heats up. Thirdly, vice presidential gossip never matters. It’s forgotten as soon as the real name is announced. Fourthly, Gary Locke thinking about a run for president is not news. Nearly every governor in the United States, I’m sure, has at one time or another courted a fantasy of a presidential run.

I understand how stuff like this gets startedโ€”Medved has to talk for hours at a time, every day. I’m not surprised that he’s going to devote some of that time to idle speculation. But that’s all it isโ€”idle speculation, some hot air filling up the void between Car Toys commercials. That’s exactly where “rumors” like this belong.
