It’s A Wonderful Life @ Cornish Playhouse
“What’s unique about Theater Anonymous is summed up in its tagline: “Nobody knows the cast, not even the cast.” To prepare for this one-night-only performance of It’s a Wonderful Life, each actor rehearsed one-on-one with the director, and tonight’s show brings the full cast together onstage for the first and last time. The great finishing gimmick: Cast members sit in the audience, unknown even to each other, until their first line, when they stand up and join the action onstage. The result is a night of constantly surprising, exceptionally alive theater.” DAVID SCHMADER

Jeezy @ Showbox Sodo
Formerly known as Young Jeezy, natch, the newly old Jeezy made his name lending drug-dealing anthems a motivational bent that Tony Robbins would envy, reminding young hustlers that โthe world is yoursโ because โthe skyโs the limit.โ Of course, when Jeezy (born Jay Wayne Jenkins) talks about picking yourself up by the bootstraps, itโs more Tony Montana than Charles Kane. Time has seen the Atlanta big shot throw his flow behind towering gargoyle trap, turnt-up ratchet, and the occasional diamond-encrusted ladiesโ jam, but no matter what beat heโs on, the song remains the same: Get on your grind and get it. Lemuria and Into It. Over It. @ El Corazรณn
Whoa-oh, the โ90s are still alive, as New York indie rockers Lemuria might have you believe. They wear their kinda emo, twee-cute pop-punk influences on their sleeves, epitomized by their 2007 split/homage with Kind of Like Spitting, Youโre Living Roomโs All Over Me. The crafty pop-punks were ahead of the smiley-faced and yin-yanged โ90s revival thing with their spot-on boy-girl vocal trade-off, big-crunch guitars, and mildly mathy riffs. Unlike many Clinton-era independent-music enthusiasts, however, Lemuriaโs sound falls nowhere near โgrunge,โ and guitarist Sheena Ozzellaโs sugary pop vocals lend them a nearly precious coyness at times. Show up early for Chicago-based emo-pop songwriter Evan Weissโs solo project, Into It. Over It., which lives up to its dramatic punctuation with rice-thin guitar noodles and heart-on-floor earnestness. BRITTNIE FULLER
