Rolling Stone‘s Nico Lang profiles the five likeliest next states to decide on gay marriage. To my mind, the most exciting part of the piece is this:

On the Bubble for 2016: Colorado, Ohio, Utah and Pennsylvania

If gay marriage is an issue in Colorado, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in 2016, that would probably be good news for Democrats. All three are states that have been in dispute in the last few presidential elections, but if Republicans are running hard against gay marriage in a presidential election year, it makes them even more unpalatable to young and independent voters. The Republican anti-gay-marriage stance will especially look crazy in 2016, after so many years of gay marriage being legal in so many states with only positive consequences to show for it.
