Today you’ve got a chance to do some learning and poetry(-ing).

In the poetic realm, Wave Poetry Weekend continues at the Henry Art Gallery. Today’s line up includes: films featuring Frank O'Hara and John Ashbery. At night, readings by Joshua Beckman, Dorothea Lasky, Anthony McCann, Geoffrey Nutter, Mary Ruefle, Jon Woodward and Rachel Zucker. Also, at the Green Lake Branch of Seattle Libraries, the Poets West series continues with Peggy Barnett, Jeff Lair and other readers to be announced, followed by an open mic — maybe you’re the TBA.

At Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, Maurice Mayben reads from Avenging Storm, which tells the all too familiar tale of ancient Chinese artifacts found in Iraq that cure cancer. First gunpowder, now cancer. Thanks ancient China!

Get some serious self-improvement done with Chris Kessler and Maria Felds reading their book Fresh Off the Couch! What You Didn't Know about Fitness Makes All the Difference at Third Place Ravenna. Or gain some skills at Elliott Bay where Nikola Davidson using techniques from Feltique will show you all manner of felt manipulation.

Finally, at Seattle Mystery Bookshop, Adam Eisenberg signs his latest A Different Shade of Blue: How Women Changed the Face of Police Work, which covers the SPD in particular.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.
