FRONT OF BOOK Letters: A full page this week that is thankfully void of the usual snide Stranger retort.... Last Days: Pure joy.... NEWS A rather tame section this week/skimmed.... SHORT FEATURE Nearly unintelligible, which still makes it a better read than anything Sean Nelson produces for the film section.... FEATURE A smart article by Josh Feit that is unfortunately soiled by yet another war-mongering, egotistical rant by Dan Savage. Perhaps it is time for Savage to "out" himself again, this time as a rabid conservative?.... FILM One day Bradley Steinbacher will manage to write a film review without using the inane word "peepers".... BOOKS A relatively pleasant preview of the Northwest Bookfest. Does this signal an end to The Stranger's patented backhanded compliments? The verdict is undoubtedly no.... ART Didn't read.... THEATER Too gay.... CHOW Min Liao is now so void of a critical backbone that she not only excessively praises a restaurant's menu, but praises the friendliness of (read: free gifts from) its chef as well.... MUSIC Suggestion: Rename The Stranger's music section the "Garage Rock" section, remain on current course.... ETC. It's My Party: Didn't read.... Celeb I Saw U: Too gay.... I Love TV: Exceptionally disgusting this week. Has Mr. Humphrey sunk so low that he now has to resort to lame shock tactics? Judging by this week's column, the answer is a resounding yes.... Savage Love: The unsavory residue of Savage's pro-war feature still present, I was unable to give his column a proper visit this week.... Obits: Didn't read.
