FRONT OF BOOK Letters: Didn't read.... Last Days: Sadly, unavailable at deadline.... NEWS Yet another dull section this week (and not just dull, but dull and featuring an article on a new monorail campaign--one can almost hear the massive yawn currently rippling throughout Seattle).... SHORT FEATURE Just how did The Stranger, which is so poorly edited (and even more poorly written), land a piece by such an enormous name as Christopher Hitchens? Perhaps whatever "celebrity" Dan Savage has achieved over the years is useful for one thing: fooling intelligent writers into penning pieces for such colossal trash as The Stranger.... FEATURE Morally indefensible and blatantly outrageous, The Stranger's "Drinking Issue" manages to showcase, in a mere 5,000 words, just why the paper is so dangerous.... FILM Just when one thinks this paper can sink no lower (see FEATURE), Dan Savage and Bradley Steinbacher spend a thousand words flaunting their smoking of marijuana. Between this and the drinking feature, I am beginning to realize why The Stranger is such a ramshackle operation week in and week out.... BOOKS A fairly smart review by the news editor, Josh Feit. Question: Why is it Mr. Feit's own section is so uninspired? Perhaps because he is too busy writing book reviews?.... ART Didn't read.... THEATER Also didn't read.... FOOD Didn't read this, either.... MUSIC Or this.... ETC. It's My Party: Or this.... I Love TV: Tried and failed to read.... Control Tower: Didn't read.... Savage Love: I have had quite enough of Dan Savage for one week, thank you.... Celeb I Saw U: Too gay....
