Today, someone registered rossiforcongress.com using an anonymizing website registration service called 1&1 Internet Inc. Interesting! Timing!

Earlier today, Congressman Dave Reichert announced that he be won't be seeking re-election in the race for Washington's 8th district. (Don't hold your breath waiting for the Stranger's in-depth, personal profile of Reichert following his seven terms of doing nothing except dodging his own constituents.)

Now, any ol' Democrat looking to cause a little trouble could have registered the domain, but Rossi's name has been tossed around as a possible contender for the seat.

The former Washington state Gubernatorial candidate and former State Senator is currently filling in as an interim Senator in the 45th Legislative District following the death of fellow Republican Andy Hill.

Ana Sofia gives us this brief history on Rossi:

Rossi previously served on the State Senate from 1997 to 2003. He also ran for governor in 2004 and 2008, but narrowly lost both times to Christine Gregoire. He ran for U.S. Senate in 2010, but lost. He was known for dodging questions about his anti-LGBTQ rights and anti-abortion stances. Delightful.

When he ran for Senate in 2010, Rossi raised $9.6 million dollars, which is a fuckin lot.

If he runs, he'll be a formidable opponent. But Roll Call is describing the district, which voted for Democrats in the last three presidential races, as one that "tilts democratic."
