Paul, I usually appreciate your writing, but in a part of this, you're wrong.

I'm guessing you or your partner were never in the military & or deployed.

The film was a damn near accurate portrayal of what it's like for those who choose to give their lives for our country, & those who choose to wait here for them.

Before you go judging on the "side-stepping of autobiographical" aspects, just be grateful you were spared any of that reality, & you didn't have to do any figuring out how to deal with it.
@1- War is hell.

That doesn't mean we should make heroes of guys who lie like rugs and joke about murdering their fellow citizens. It also doesn't mean that a fake baby looks real on screen.
The author has no idea what he is talking about, as does @1-War is hell. Get educated and stop spreading fiction.…
@1- You want people to "give their lives for our country"? Then how about they get jobs here, IN the U.S.of A., helping those less fortunate, teaching, feeding, counseling, clothing and providing basic services.
Going to far away lands that have absolutely nothing to do with us, full of people who, for the most part, do not want us there, and making those who go there heroes for blowing the brains of the natives to smithereens with a high-powered rifle from long range, that's not "heroic". That's murder.
#4, true about the we shouldn't get involved in other places, but the notion that somehow there is this needy America yearning for a helping hand is BS. We're a bunch of spoiled, media whore assholes, more concerned about our smartphones and data packages and Facebook pages and getting laid and being cool than actually giving a shit about somebody outside of our clique or sphere of needs; we want to get rich and could really give a fuck about "providing basic services" whatever that far as film, Eastwood can be a great director, I find Unforgiven a work of art, but he can also be a horrible director, like the orangutan shit ones he did. The fact the this Sniper war flick just made 100 million on opening weekend shows that America has some gooey open wounds festering about our ongoing war actions, and is seeking self medication. Imagine that. As always, God Bless America and Amen.
