This film does a very good job of portraying Paris and France at a time that I was there, at 16 and 22, although I only wandered into a club like the first one once (it was in a basement near my hostel).
That said, while I appreciated it's artistry, it is a tad too violent, and the subthemes are a bit over the top. I liked how you were not sure who the perpetrator was, and found myself deciding it was different people at different times in the movie, all the way until just about the end.
Agree about the soundtrack.

The Horror Queers Podcast covered this film recently - can recommend.
