• PORKCHOP & CO. • Ballard: Located in the pretty space where Belle Clementine used to be, P&C is a local-and-seasonal, order-at-the-counter, breakfast-and-lunch place making "honest, tasty food." The sandwich menu, while of the over-$10 ilk, looks great—including a nine-ounce pork-chop sandwich with homemade pickles and salsa verde—and there's beer from Reuben's Brews and pastries from Parchment. Chef/owner Paul Osher used to run Bean & Thyme at the Santa Monica Farmers Market. (5451 Leary Ave NW, 257-5761, eatatporkchop.com, $$)

• RED STAR TACO BAR • Fremont: Three Fremont bartenders opened this place where the White Rabbit used to be—the decor is reportedly a vast improvement, there's a patio, and we hear good things about the tacos. (513 N 36th St, 258-3087, redstartacobar.com, $)

• SHIBUMI IZAKAYA • Capitol Hill: Spendy, slick-looking Shibumi is an izakaya place run by a guy who used to date the woman who played Charlotte on Sex and the City. He previously owned two restaurants in Santa Fe, one of which had a no-fragrance-allowed policy. (1222 E Pine St, 397-4552, shibumiseattle.com, $$$)

• COMET • Capitol Hill: The Comet's done a fine job of getting people drunk since 1948. More recently—for a long time—it was a place to see hearing-impairing bands, have beer spilled on you, and generally experience the disappearing joys of anti-gentrification. Under the new ownership of David Meinert and Jason Lajeunesse (who together also own Lost Lake and Big Mario's, and individually own the 5 Point, Onto Entertainment, Barboza, Neumos, Moe Bar, and the Capitol Hill Block Party), the Comet no longer has tattered barstools or two footprint outlines worn through the linoleum in front of each toilet in the women's room, the Comet serves food (previously unthinkable), and the Comet is only hosting live music a few times a month. (922 E Pike St, 323-5678, thecomettavern.com, $)

• THE URBAN BUGGY • Central District: The owner of this vegan deli, Dennis Comer, used to be in the military, and in his civilian life has also become an urban farmer via the excellent Seattle Tilth Farm Works Education Program. You'll also find the baked goods of Brown Sugar Baking Company here. (308 22nd Ave S, Ste 102, 538-0771, facebook.com/theurbanbuggy, $)

• RUSSELL'S • Wallingford: Owner Joe Russell worked at Kells for a long time; his bar near Joule and the Whale Wins is meant to be a neighborhood spot, and it serves potpies, but it looks much more contemporary-industrial than that all sounds. (4111 Stone Way N, $$)

• CAFFE DELIA • White Center: The reportedly adorable Caffe Delia says, "We're serving Velton's Coffee and doing it very well. We're located between Proletariat Pizza and Stan's Adult Superstore." (9622B 16th Ave SW, caffedelia.com, $)

• WATERSHED PUB & KITCHEN • Northgate: This family-owned pub in the Thornton Place complex makes pizza using local/organic stuff, has 21 rotating taps, and gets its name from something real: The Northgate Mall area is actually a watershed (the patio here overlooks Thornton Creek). (10104 Third Ave NE, 729-7433, watershedpub.com, $$)

• HECHO • Greenwood: In Carmelita's former home, owners Chris Navarra (of Ridge and Prost! pubs), Chris Gerke (Nickerson Street Saloon), and Shannon Wilkinson (Little Water Cantina) are "taking creative liberties using local ingredients" to make "food from every corner of Mexico." (7314 Greenwood Ave N, 588-1919, hechoinseattle.com, $$)

• BRGR BAR • Pioneer Square: Formerly the divey Dome Burger, BRGR Bar is a "classic American burger joint with a Korean flair" (same owners). (111 Occidental Ave S, 340-1457, facebook.com/brgrbarseattle, $)

• THE MIX MARTINI LOUNGE • Belltown: It's another bar in Belltown where Karma Martini Lounge & Bistro used to be, not to be confused with the bar called the Mix in Georgetown. (2318 Second Ave, 448-2656, $$)

MISC.: STELLAR PIZZA in Georgetown is back! With Stella still in charge in-house and a new investor owner • THE SAINT on Capitol Hill has a new chef: Álvaro Candela, of the very popular Monday taco night at Sitka & Spruce • TIN UMBRELLA in Hillman City is now a coffee roaster as well as an awesome cafe—congrats! • TINELLO in Pioneer Square is now RADICI, reportedly after a cease-and-desist from a restaurant in New York by the same name

NEW LOCATIONS OF EXISTING PLACES: TAYLOR SHELLFISH FARMS OYSTER BAR in Lower Queen Anne: Yay! • ARAYA'S PLACE in Madison Park: A new outpost of the vegan Thai favorite, where Rover's used to be • RANCHO BRAVO in Wallingford: Following in the footsteps of its takeover of a Kentucky Fried Chicken on Capitol Hill, the Wallingford RB now exists in the Winchell's Donuts building (instead of in the Winchell's Donuts parking lot) • HOKKAIDO RAMEN SANTOUKA in Bellevue: Lots of people love this Japanese ramen chain • JINYA RAMEN in Bellevue: Lots of people love this LA ramen chain • AGAVE COCINA & TEQUILAS in Lower Queen Anne: Joining the Issaquah and Redmond locations • FUEL COFFEE on Capitol Hill: Now is a pop-up at the former Chico Madrid space (sigh) • MOLLY MOON'S on Capitol Hill: Now has an ice-cream window at Hello Robin. recommended
