Green Plate Special is the tremendously great Seattle nonprofit that gets low-income middle-school students into growing food and cooking. Tonight, celebrate the opening of their new teaching kitchen with wood-fired pizza made with vegetables harvested from the GPS garden—with Brian Solazzi of Humble Pie manning the oven—plus paella, appetizers/dessert from the Ruins, Fremont Brewing’s beer, and wine, too. Tickets include all food and drinks, so go make the most of it—it’s for the kids! (Green Plate Special, 2115 25th Ave S, greenplatespecial.org, 6 pm, $35/$15 youth)
