Former Smiths frontman Morrissey is playing Benaroya Hall tonight, and it will ease your mind to know that no meat products will be served on the premises, per one of the world’s most notorious vegan‘s request. Davids & Co, the restaurant within Benaroya, is “complying with [the venue’s] wish that we not serve any meat products during [Morrissey’s] show,” says employee Danny Hanson. When asked if this were an unusual situation, Hanson says, “We’ve done special menus before. No matter what we’re serving, we’re going to give our customers really delicious food. It’s just that we have to be using non-meat products today. We’re not going totally vegan; we’ve got some dairy products in our stuff. We’ve got cheese in our lasagna and whatnot.”
The menu also includes feta in the Green Parisian Cous Cous Salad. Horrors. Well, I recommend you go for the Moroccan Spiced Vegetable Tagine… and go vegan for the rest of your life, while you’re at it. Morrissey—and planet Earth—would be proud of you.
